Our MiSSION

Our mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for tech enthusiasts, tinkerers, dreamers, and makers, where ideas push the boundaries of the imagination, promoting decarbonization through the use of electric motors and battery storage, encouraging STEM education through hands-on learning, and where all ages and backgrounds can come together to build and be inspired.

WHY WE BUILD

Building is Our Culture - Inspires Our Children - Creates a Better World

We celebrate building. We see builders as the unsung heroes who create the future. We build to unlock dreams into reality. We build to connect with people, those we knew and those we didn’t. We build to educate. We build to prove to others that they can too. Engineering creations pour out of us, with work and play becoming indistinguishable from each other. We smile when others declare our ideas ridiculous – then we know we’re onto something good.

Some have asked, “But why electric autonomous mutant vehicles?” The greatest opportunity to impact others comes from the creation of something out of the ordinary, the odd, creative, and notable. People stop, stare, smile, laugh, and sometimes dance. Most importantly, they start to believe that they can be builders too. Not only do we build for ourselves, but we build in a way that inspires the world, and future builders.

WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING?

100% of proceeds are invested in DreamMakers projects - currently TechnoGecko (six fully electric autonomous driving mutant vehicles). Your donation is tax-deductible. The work itself is powered by a community of unpaid volunteers.

HOW TO DONATE

DONATE DIRECTLY: Please make a tax-deductible to our PayPal account. You can also send to buildthedream@technogecko.org and choose “friends and family” to avoid fees.

AMAZON SMILE: Donate passively for free! Please add us to your Amazon Smile, and 0.5% of your purchases are donated to us! It’s really easy: Set up Amazon Smile for DreamMakers (Sunnyvale), and Install Smilematic browser extension that automatically redirects you to smile.amazon.com. You can also choose to activate Amazon Smile on your mobile Amazon app by opening up the app and selecting Gifting and Charity, then Amazon Smile.

DONATE STOCK: If you’re fortunate enough to have investments that have appreciated significantly in value, then giving stock can be a smart way to donate. If you sell stock, depending on your tax situation and how much the stock has gone up, you could owe as much as 1/3 in tax. For example, you might sell $1500 worth of stock, owe $500 in tax on that sale, and use the remaining $1000 to make a tax deductible cash donation to DreamMakers. If instead you donated the stock itself to DreamMakers, then, as a 501(c)(3) non profit organization, DreamMakers can sell that stock tax-free. DreamMakers gets the full $1500, and you get to deduct $1500 on your tax return too, so this is better both for DreamMakers and for you. If you need advice about how this would apply in your specific tax situation, please consult a tax professional.

Each brokerage generally has its own form for stock transfers. For example, if you're an E*Trade customer, use this E*TRADE form and mail or fax it per the instructions on the form. For other brokerage firms, please contact them for a copy of their stock transfer form.
